Drawing and Painting Class

Ages 2-5 (out of diapers)
$130 per week; materials included
Come join VAE for our exciting preschool camp! Campers will explore some of the exciting mediums in our studios! Each week will have a different "theme". Children will learn a variety of skills and techniques in different art mediums as well as have a lot of fun while learning!

M-F, 10am - 4pm
Ages 5-12 (unless otherwise noted)
Full day camps are $175 per week; $160 per week (two or more weeks)
Half-day Clay Camp is $115 per week
Drop-in attendance is available for $50 oer day; please call ahdead to reserve space
Early drop off (9:00 am) is available by prior arrangement for $15 per day
Dates are specific to each camp.

OPEN STUDIO ART CAMPS
July 7-11, July 21-25 & July28-Aug 1
Working with artist/Instructor Ann Webster, students will enjoy the most sought-after time in the VAE studio: Open Studio. Several 2-D and 3-D mediums will be introduced over the week such as soapstone, plaster, woodworking, printmaking, jewelry, collage, drawing and painting. Recycled material and found objects will also be incorporated into creating individual works of art, celebrating each students unique artistic vision.
MUSIC CAMP
July 14-18
Ages 8-12
Musician-Instructor Nathan Knowles will lead campers to write songs in their favorite styles such as rap, hip-hop, rock & roll, and rhythm & blues. Percussion and other instruments will be incorporated as well as vocals. The songs will then be composed and recorded into a CD in which campers will design their own CD covers. Participants may bring an instrument from home to help build the "camp band".
DRAWING & PAINTING CAMP
July 14-18
Ages 8-12
Artist-Instructor, Matthew Perry will spend the week with campers filling sketchbooks, and canvas boards beginning with drawing and then moving to paint. We'll capture everyday life through quick drawings, learn basic skills and build on the abilities of each student. We'll explore mediums such as pen, watercolor, charcoal, pastel, oil pastel, watercolor, and acrylic paint. we'll work outside and inside from life and from the imagination. An exhibition will be held at the end of the week where campers will learn about curating and presenting their work.
WATER ARTS CAMP
Aug 4-8 & Aug 11-15
We"ll be exploring the movement of the Paran Creek this week and will create sculptures & other works of art that work with its currents. Inspired by artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, we'll have LOTS of outdoor time creating & building installations and getting excited by water and nature! Back on land we'll be creating water-related art. Cool off with us this week!
CLAY CAMP
Ages 5-9, Morning Clay: 10:00am-12:00noon
Ages 9-12, Afternoon Clay: 1:00pm-3:00pm
July 21-25 & Aug 4-8

Campers will explore one of the most fun mediums in our studios! Come join ceramic artist Arline Mayer and your little ones for Clay Play where we'll make functional & sculptural ceramic projects. The older group will learn a variety of skills and techniques on the potter's wheel as well as hand building.
